The UW is competitive--not extremely so, but you doSep 04 2003Engineering Department
The UW is competitive--not extremely so, but you do need to have good grades and a decent SAT score. The standards are lowered somewhat for those fulfil some sort of quota requirement (i.e. come from a really small town, have a creative ethnic or religious background, be the token stupid person, etc). I'm only half-kidding. The UW application is quite extensive so leave yourself some time and extra copies to work through it and write the essays (most of which are optional unless you want to apply to the honors program). To apply to the Honors program (which gets you smaller discussion-oriented classes, better professors, and more personalized academic counseling) just check the box and send in some of the extra essays; for Honors you should be in the top 5% of your grad. class or write a really good essay.
ACT: 31 SAT: 1480 Female
